Who knew corkboards, wire and clipboards could be so chic? We are loving all these different ways to pin your interests!

bringing in the green

Adding a little green to a finished room always seems to make things feel fresher and finished. Try it! Here are some "green" items to add to your spaces...

Fiddle Fig Trees:

We love how a nice large fig tree finishes off a space. More often then not we use faux fig trees in our home designs. However, if you go real fig you have a better selection of size and scale! Most faux trees come as large a 7' tall.

Moss:

Moss is a nice quick fix for some green. Priced very reasonably, moss balls can add a nice vibrant green to the space. Gather up a bowl full and place on the center of your table for some interesting texture and bright color!

Ferns:

Classic, traditional, fresh, we could go on and on. Ferns can be a beautiful compliment to a very sophisticated polished room. Maybe add some pressed fern art to your wall. Or place a few in a vase to add some softness to your kitchen.

Hydrangeas:

You can't go wrong with a cluster of hydrangeas. Add to a low rustic bowl for a more casual feel or dress them up with a clear vase and water. Plant out back to add some lushness to your garden, that can be seen from your sitting room. Beautiful and fresh for any space in the house.

Boxwood:

A slightly more sophisticated and tailored alternative to moss. Boxwoods come in all shapes and sizes. Most of these plants can live in any climate and are easy to maintain. Use boxwood balls in a bowl, boxwood topiaries to dress up a book shelf, or a classic wreath to great you guests at the front door.

Today this HOT design motif has been translated into every aspect of the interiors industry! Over the years this technique has been paired with different color, patterns and textures. However, it still stays true

to its classic, clean and tasteful aesthetic.

We thought you might enjoy a few tips / inspiration for those empty

(or maybe just slightly disorganized) bookcases we know you

have sitting around the house:

No. 1 : Add color with paint or wallcovering.

No. 2: Soften with drapery.

No. 3: A nice sculptural piece is always an interesting focal point.

No. 4: Bookshelves are not just for books!

Add framed art, flowers, and / or natural textures like coral.

No. 5: Repeat, repeat, repeat!

Repetition is one of the key elements for design. Repeat the type of book,

keep it monochromatic with the same color, or show off multiples of your favorite items.

No. 6: Organize by color.

No. 7: Overlap objects for a more layered look and

create height variations with your books as stands.

art wall how-to

We LOVE art arrangements....

HOWEVER, the hanging and arranging can be a BIT intimidating.

Well, don't get frustrated! The book by David Matheson called "Photos" gives a great how-to, to make sure your art is lined up well, and the photos are evenly spaced;

STEP ONE: Trace paper templates the size of each frame.

STEP TWO: Use painter's tape and the templates to experiment with

different arrangements on the wall. Try to keep the same distance between frames

STEP THREE: To place the picture hooks, measure and mark X's on the paper templates.

Hammer nails through the picture hooks (and the paper), then rip away the paper.

STEP FOUR: Hang it. Love it. You're done!

Now, if this still isn't your thing, placing art and photos on a nice long shelf looks great too!
